Continuing Professional Development for Teachers
As part of the Embodied Dancer Curriculum I am really happy to be able to offer to interested teacher trainee's and other students the chance to take part in a whole weekend of learning and understanding safe, effective hands-on assists. You can also do each day individually. Add to your existing 'tool box' of skills as a yoga teacher or simply deepen and refine your own practice if you wish. Learning adjustments is a great way to get to know the body, yours and other people's!
Content: As part of the Embodied Dancer Teacher training we will be learning how to give and recieve safe, effective and appropriate adjustments, tailored for the individual. As someone who learns very kinesthetically, I appreciate good adjusting and aim to pass on my love of bodywork to students in this unit.
Our aim is to meet students where they are, and using alignment principles, a centered and breath-conscious approach, we can assist rather than pull, coerce or force into unnatural position. This weekend will also consider the ramifications of body type, for example the hyper-flexible student (dancer) and how to approach in adjustment. We will use the Primary Series of Astanga Vinyasa yoga as a template, but delve into other sequences and postures. Expect to practice and be practiced upon!
Day 1. Surya Namaskara and Standing poses.
Day 2. Seated postures and inversions and savasana!
Total hours 15
Dates: June 9/10 2012
Cost: £150 for whole weekend
Day only £80
includes a manual/handouts and certificate of completion
Venue: Golden Door Yoga, 39 Fairbridge Road London N19 3EW
