About Jayendra Hanley
Thirty years ago, I bought a book about hatha yoga, and I have been devoted to this practice ever since. A couple of years later, I met Swami Muktananda, and ever since then, I have been a student of his and his beloved successor, Gurumayi Chidvilasananda. Their grace is the highest gift, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
I met John Friend in 1993 and discovered a whole new paradigm for practicing hatha yoga. John taught me that yoga can be fun. At its highest, it is a joyful expression of a full heart. In 2001 I received certification to teach Anusara Yoga.
Three years ago, I moved to Madrid, and it is my great fortune to visit many places around Europe to offer workshops, Immersions, and teacher trainings in Anusara Yoga.
I then moved to Holland where I now live and people here seem very open to Anusara Yoga. I feel so blessed to have this amazing hatha yoga system as the foundation for teaching, with its inspiring philosophy, brilliant technique, and heart-opening community of students all over the world.
Jim Bernaert - is Yoga Mandali's most senior Anusara certified teacher trainer. His expertise in yoga, knowledge of the human body and the Anusara principles is profound. Jim began the study of yoga in 1985 and studied mostly with Iyengar teachers, including John Friend until Anusara was developed in 1997. Jim's ability to communicate simply - make his classes a real learning experience.
Ruthie Bernaert - began practicing in 1985 in Hawaii with Laura Loftus, an Iyengar teacher. Ruthie started teaching in between Laura's visits to Hawaii.  Ruthie's extensive study with John Friend began in 1994. Ruthie is Yoga Mandali's most enthusiastic teacher who loves teaching beginners and restoratives. She has considerable experience with therapeutics and women's issues, especially PMS and menopause. Ruthie is one of Yoga Mandali's main Teacher Trainers and has trained hundreds of teachers in the US, Mexico, Australia and India. Ruthie says, "If you want a happy life you should come do Anusara Yoga."
