Yoga for Kyphosis: A Back Care Workshop
Triyoga Primrose Hill 6 Erskine Road, Primrose Hill NW3 3AJ London, Greater London, England
Single Session booking: Yes Places Available
'Hunchback', 'round back' or 'humpback'…an abnormal forward bend of the upper spine (thoracic), very much affected by the sedentary Western lifestyle. Muscles along the upper back may become chronically tight, encouraged by collapsed postural habits. At a physiological level, this disorder may potentially affect one’s breathing efficiency; cause unnecessary tension to build up along the neck and shoulders; and can be a cause of depression. Those with hyperkyphosis may also feel the need to take extra deep breaths or may sigh at frequent intervals.
In this workshop, we will practise various yoga postures tailored specifically for those with hyperkyphosis and explore the support of our lungs and musculoskeletal system in addressing this issue. Many have experienced how this practice has freed up embedded tightness, encouraged fullness of breath, and released tension along the neck and shoulders. Through awareness, we will also introduce healthy postures into our daily life.
For all levels, suitable for kyphoscoliosis. Limited to no more than 18 students.
