Brian has had a daily yoga practice since 1971, and for over 20 years, apart from 6 months in Rishikesh in India, was self taught. He later studied with some of the world’s leading teachers including K.P. Jois, B.K.S. Iyengar, Derek Ireland and Graeme Northfield. Although all his teachers have enriched and informed his practice and understanding of yoga, he believes it is one’s own practice which is the greatest teacher. He views his practice as Karma Yoga, selfless service without expectation. In this way, we all have our own karma, and therefore our own practice. Listen to yourself and trust in your innate wisdom, it is your yoga.
Brian has dedicated much time to teaching the benefits of Thai Massage for teachers and students of yoga. These interests have resulted in his best-selling book ‘The Art of Adjusting’ written specifically for yoga teachers.
Brian is the founder and director of Union Yoga Training, one of the first training programs focusing on Astanga Yoga. He has established nation-wide training courses and has helped and encouraged his graduates to continue offering the highest quality teaching. Brian is a consultant for the World Yoga Council and for Yoga Alliance UK.
