Caroline TautzSenior Yoga Teacher (SYT) |
Caroline Tautz trained in Fine Art, dance, and choreography before beginning her training in bodywork and yoga 15 years ago. Her first teachers in Ashtanga vinyasa were John Scott and Sri K Pattabhi Jois. She subsequently trained with other outstanding teachers from this system, as well as more recently completing training in Anusara yoga. Her bodywork and massage practice are influenced by Feldenkreis, Ida Rolf, yoga and dance.
Caroline’s early teaching included teaching yoga for dancers and performers, but subsequently she has taught yoga and bodywork to people of all ages and backgrounds. Central to her teaching is the Laban notion of ‘dance for all’, applied to yoga; the idea that yoga can enhance physical and mental well-being for anyone, regardless of background, age, and physical ability. Recently she has worked with refugees in S.E. London, teaching yoga and dance, sometimes with a group or individually. She also teaches a class for men, as well as mixed groups. Her teaching style is dynamic but precise with a grounding in principles of anatomy and physiology. Structural information is balanced with an emphasis on breath as being the gateway to energetic release and awareness. A concern for the well-being of each person in a group has created a preference for working in smaller more personal environments, and she currently runs groups from home.
She is presently devising a combined workshop series of yoga and coaching, working alongside a psychotherapist and life-coach. In these classes there will be an opportunity to explore and find freedom from limitations created in mind and body. The workshop series will centre around the theme of ‘developing space’.
Caroline is currently studying under the guidance of Swami Saradananda, applying the yamas and niyamas to daily life, through a dedicated practise of pranayama, asana, meditation and journaling.
She is also working creatively to devise a solo performance work.
She is a mother to two boys, and three step-children.
