Dara first practiced yoga in 1998, and has studied under teachers from many yoga traditions including Dharma Mittra, Seane Corn, Rodney Yee, Gurmukh, and Anna Forest among others. She began a deeper practice after discovering Jivamukti Yoga in 2005. Dara has since traveled to India to study yoga and completed Jivamutki's 300-hour teacher training programme under Sharon Gannon and David Life in 2007.

Dara is very grateful to her teachers who continue to inspire her: Durga Devi, Sharon Gannon, David Life, Yogeswari, and Lady Ruth.
