Don't yet qualify? Like to join a 500 Hour Diploma Course?

500 Hour Yoga Alliance UK Accredited Teaching Diploma

Have you completed a 200 hour yoga training course or equivalent? Or have you been teaching without formal qualifications and would like to gain an internationally recognized certificate?

When you enrol on Yoga Alliance UKs 500 hour diploma course, you join a growing community of teachers who are committed to quality and involvement in shaping yoga in the UK.

The ethos of this training is not a top down approach but one of encouraging sharing of knowledge and experience. Some electives may be taught by world-class teachers, whereas some may be taught by Senior Yoga Teachers.

The training consists of core modules, electives, and practical experience. Mentoring and assisting in training modules also contributes to the total hours required.
Electives and core modules take place at Registered Yoga Schools throughout the UK.

How it Works

Your school is registered with Yoga Alliance UK and offers a 500 hour course. You register with their course and pay the annual registration fee.

You can attend electives at any yoga school registered as a RYS 500, including your own school. Workshops taught by Yoga Alliance SYTs will also count as electives.

You must attend the requisite hours of core modules which have to be held by your host school.

Electives

Contact Hours + Teaching Experience = 300

Hours should add to a total of 300, taken from both Contact Hours and Teaching Experience. You can choose from the above as long as the hours fall between the minimum and maximum.

Notes: Electives must take place in a Yoga Alliance UK RYS, or by a SYT.

Teaching in Class must be in the public domain.

Workshops you teach have to be advertised in your profile page on Yoga Alliance UK

Mentoring must be under the auspices of your host school.

Please keep a log of your activity. You also need to write a description of each workshop you attend. Use the guidelines below to do this. You can send in the workshop descriptions after each workshop or send several together to your host school.

There is NO time limit on either Core Modules or Electives.

·         The number of contact hours (assuming you have completed a recognised 200 Hour Course) will be at least 132 and hours can be accumulated through a combination of Electives and Core Modules.

·         Electives take place at RYS 500, and may form part of specialist workshops. Electives and Core Modules will only count towards the 500 hour training once you have formally joined the 500 hour programme and paid the annual registration fee to your host school.

·         The remaining hours are accumulated through teaching experience, which includes teaching in class and teaching workshops, mentoring 200 hour diploma students, and assisting on Yoga Alliance UK recognised 200 hour training courses.

·         Teachers will where possible be encouraged to assist in some of the teaching in the 200 hour programme. The hours spent in this will contribute towards the total hours.

·         There is no time limit in which to complete the course, but the annual fee is to be paid annually for however long you remain on the course.

·         If you do not keep up the annual payment, you will be given a grace period to re-start payment. Failure to do so will result in your accumulated hours being annulled.

·         To qualify you must complete an assessment towards the end of your training, which will take place at your host school.

Course Fees

Cost of annual registration is £35.00. This sum has to be paid annually as long as you are registered on the 500 hour course. All core modules and electives are to be paid separately. Prices will vary according to the event and teacher. A 10% discount is normally available on all Yoga Alliance UK accredited workshops.
