My Style and philosophy;
The style of the classes are best described as dynamic Hatha Yoga and the approach is very much geared up for getting energy(prana) flowing, loosening up stiffness, mobilising the prana and focussing on clearing, cleansing and strengthening the flow of internal energy. This is firstly a safety precaution to ensure adequate circulation to the muscles, tendons, ligaments, organs, fascia and connective tissues, and equally importantly an enhanced flow of ‘Prana’ (life-force) is an essential prerequisite for developing a deep connection with the unique experience afforded by the correct performance of the Yoga asanas. This rich and rewarding experience is not dependant on flexibility and can be accessed by any student at any stage via coreect preparation, breathing and performance of the yoga posture or practice in question. I bring a rich, diverse experience and education tomy teaching. Viewing yoga primarily as a healing art, practical reference is made not only to extensive training in Hatha Yoga, but a keen desire to transmit a deep understanding of the inner workings of the Yogic practices acquired through 26 years of dedicated enthusiasm for energetic medicine; In order to foster an understanding of this true essence of Yoga, I draw on ideas from an extensive training in the Hatha and Shadow styles of Indian Yoga, and on many years dedicated study of disciplines including Taoist Yoga, T’ai Chi and Chi Kung, Japanese Martial Arts, Mexican Shamanism, Afro-Brazilian movement arts(Capoeira de Angola), the Ayuvedic Martial art from Kerala, ‘Kalari Payattu’.
