My yoga journey started at the gym, dropping into power yoga or Ashtanga classes now and again, predominantly for a good stretch to complement my gym workouts. I soon began to realise yoga was more than just about stretching and I was gaining much more, physically, mentally and spiritually. My muscles were challenged in a new way, my mind was able to rest from the day’s thoughts and I started to gain a sense of inner peace. I had found something that I definitely needed in my life.

Over a period of years I gradually increased the number of classes I attended and ventured outside the gym to explore the Ashtanga primary series further. I was lucky to find inspiring teachers, who helped me develop my practice. I have travelled to Ibiza, India and Bali attending workshops to develop my practice further. I have been fortunate to be taught by respected yogis such as Kino MacGregor and David Swenson. In May 2011, after about 7 years practice, I completed the 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training at the Sacred School of Arts in Ubud, Bali. In addition to teaching skills, this intensive course also deepened my knowledge in pranayama, meditation, mantras, Hinduism and ayurveda.

In this fast moving world we are all so busy with thoughts racing around in our minds. Taking an hour or so out of the day to just focus only on your breath and moving your body in and out of postures is truly precious. Yoga has brought so much into my life and I want to spread the yoga love. Even if you don’t want to head down the spiritual route, yoga can still provide you with many other benefits and can complement other activities such as cycling and running.
