Namaste:) I have been practising yoga for many years after obtaining a BA Hons degree in Dance at The Roehampton Institute in London. My approachto life is holistic, including vegetarianism, and this is the appeal of yoga for me. I have taught yoga in secondary schools to all age groups and teachers...the benefits of improved focus, concentration and well-being have been fantastic. Yoga is for all and beautiful in its non-competitiveness - a much needed haven of peace in this world. I returned to
Sivananda after beginning my journey there at the age of 17 and have adopted this holistic approach whilst also adapting where necessary for my students' needs. I offer classes in Gillingham, Kent and offer individual or paired guidance in your own home also. With my experience in schools as a teacher of Yoga, and also of Drama and English, please contact me if you would like to organise a workshop at your school or business. My technique involves relaxation, pranayama and asana practice, with emphasis on deep abdominal breathing to strengthen the body and focus the mind. However, to cater for young or lively students I include more dynamic and flowing movement as part of the session. I enjoy working with silence and the breath, and also use spiritual and meditative sound and music. I can incorporate meditation techniques such as Tratak if students are ready for this.
