My first introduction to Yoga came in 1999 when I stumbled on Transcendental Meditation which had profound effects on my mind and overall well being, via local TM teacher Chris Greathead. The following year I started posture work with Iyengar Yoga and after a few months was introduced to Ashtanga Vinyasa by Buddhist Yogi Suddaka. I benefited very quickly from the energy created from Ashtanga and enjoy a regular practice of Asana, Pranayama and meditation, each work on various levels of mind and body to keep each in balance and provide a centred calm awareness.
I completed my Ashtanga teacher training in 2004 with Brian Cooper under Yoga Alliance UK and I am a registered teacher (RYT) at 200 hours and continuing to study towards 500 hours at present. Having studied with numerous international ‘Ashtangis’ and teachers from other forms of Yoga and I have respect for all methods and find there is no right or wrong way – it’s all relevant towards one’s path. Ashtanga is my main practice with Brian Cooper and V Sheshadri in Mysore remain my two main teachers and influences on my practice and teaching methods. To deepen my experience I am also studying towards a 250 hour diploma in Pantanjali’s Classical Yoga with George Feuersteins Traditional Yoga Studies school. I completed my Thai Massage training in Chaing Mai Thailand and plan further training to return in 2011, I feel by offering the combination of Thai Massage and Yoga it gives others the opportunity to enhance their overall wellbeing and health. I am also a member of Thai Healing Alliance International a professional organization which endorses standards of traditional Thai therapy throughout the world.
