My career has spanned everything from being a radio presenter to working in dog neutering clinics in Nepal and Sri Lanka. I started off as a local weekly newspaper journalist, then spent many years working as a news producer and programme presenter on BBC local radio. I moved into PR as a press officer and spokesperson for the RSPCA – a dream job, as how we treat our fellow beings has always been central to my particular take on life. I then set up my own small PR consultancy for clients from the charity and small business.

It’s not a bad CV, and I’ve had many wonderful memorable experiences along the way. But it was never the only path I wanted to take.

Fortunately yoga was ticking along in the background. I watched my mother doing yoga classes when we were living in Singapore in the 1970s. I took it up seriously around the time of the Millennium, developing a regular ashtanga practice which was a blissful escape from work stresses and personal ups and downs. It also released me from what I had believed to be a lifetime of back pain due to a curve in my spine and too much time spent hunched over a keyboard.

My mother’s death in 2007 prompted me to train as a teacher with Vibrant Living in Bali www.radiantlyalive.com. My teachers were David Williams, Edward Clark and Daniel Aaron. I’ve also done a Yoga Therapy Foundation Course with the Life Centre in London, and taken workshops with some truly inspiring teachers including Dharma Mittra, Simon Low, David Swenson, Duncan Wong, Bridget Kramer Woods.

My teacher training in Bali was also my first experience of the sparkling health that can be enjoyed with raw food and the techniques of detoxing, which I have continued to explore ever since.
