I’m passionate about helping people transform their lives and view that my role as a yoga teacher is to help you reconnect with your inner self. In doing so you come alive - you find your purpose in life and learn how to live your passions.

My route to teaching yoga has been somewhat circuitous. When I was eight, I decided that I was going to be heart surgeon. This stemmed from my greater purpose of wanting to help people and make a difference in their lives.

Although I intended on becoming a doctor, I discovered that I liked research and got my doctorate instead. I enjoyed being a neuroscientist; however, there was this underlying nagging feeling that no matter how many grants I got or papers I published, my research would never have a significant impact on people’s lives.

Whilst I had dabbled with yoga since my second pregnancy and used it as a way to combat the stress of academia, it wasn’t until the beginning of 2010 that I was introduced to Bikram yoga and immediately fell head over heels in love with it. At the same time I discovered a name and philosophy for the long-hold stretches I would do to make my body feel better – yin yoga. And suddenly it felt as if all the puzzle pieces were falling into place.

I believe that yoga has the power to transform our lives because it works from the inside out by changing our bodies, our thoughts, our emotions and consequently our actions outside the studio. I’m developing a program that uses hot yoga as the primary tool to create positive long-lasting changes in people’s lives. I’m incorporating my love of research to document the process so that people have a concrete picture of how they have changed and know that they are indeed the creators of their lives.
