My Tuesday, Thursday and Friday classes are all level 1-2. They are simple enough for newcomers but challenging enough for those with prior practice to go a little further. I teach using lots of guidance so that you are first and foremost safe. I talk about the therapeutic applications, the anatomical focus and benefit of the postures and I make you aware of the cautions and contraindications. My priority is your safety and making sure your yoga practice is a happy, enjoyable one. There are always levels within each posture or flow & so you may choose depending on your energy and ability. I do light adjustments but am happy not to if that is your preference. My job as the leader of the class is to help you find your own way with yoga, so that you may become your own guide and find your personal yoga practice and a lifelong relationship with yoga. My Sunday morning class is a level 2 class and so more suited to those with some yoga experience.
I trained with Yoga Professionals and graduated with a CYQ Level 3 Certificate in Teaching Yoga and I am an AppleYoga Pre and Postnatal teacher having completed the 86 hour Yoga Alliance accredited teacher training with Katy Appleton and Lisa Larn. My yoga mentor and teacher is a KHYF trainer and teaches yoga in the tradition of Professor T Krishnamacharya. I continue to attend as many workshops as I can (family allowing), always looking to broaden and supplement my initial training. I began practicing Yoga in my 20's in South West London and really found what I now know as 'real' yoga when I was pregnant in my 30's and being taught by Miranda Gates-Flemming. I began to understand yoga as more than another exercise class, it did something to my insides as well as my outsides. It changed how I felt and behaved off of my mat. When pregnant I practiced Yoga almost every day. I had a wonderful, healthy pregnancy and a relaxed birth, I delivered my [huge] baby quickly, easily and naturally with no problems or interventions. I know this was because Yoga had kept me strong and flexible physically throughout my 9 months but also calm and emotionally stable, reminding me that giving birth is as natural as breathing and to trust my body wholly and absolutely. I love Yoga, the Asana [postures] but I love the philosophy and the way of living that studying Yoga has given me just as much. By sharing the magical benefits of Yoga with those I have the honour of teaching I find myself feeling enormously satisfied and content - so thank you to those of you who I already teach. LOOSEYoga prenatal yoga classes can be attended from week 14 of your pregnancy and once you have your baby my postnatal yoga will help you regain your core and pelvic stability. I am at present studying Children's Yoga with The British Scool of Yoga and once completed I may add a mother and baby yoga class and a children's yoga class to the timetable. I am married, I live with my husband and son in Rowfant, near Crawley Down in Mid Sussex. I am also a trainee Doula. May the long time sun Shine upon you, All love surround you, And the pure light within you Guide your way on.
