Although only recently qualified as a teacher, I have been practising for over 15 years, originally coming to yoga via injury. Throughout this time, I have practiced various styles ; Iyengar, Astanga, Hatha and flow. Having no distinct favourite, my own practice is a blend of something that I have taken from each and that I feel appropriate to that self-practice. I have also recently discovered Yin yoga and find it the perfect compliment to today’s hectic lifestyle.
Yoga has been an integral part of my life in various forms, being with me during happy and healthy times and seeing me through illness, injury and times of emotional stress. I also enjoy the outdoor environment, skiing, sport climbing and walking an yoga helps tremendously with the physical challenges and mental focus needed. If ever I have felt ready to give up, I take time out and simply close my eyes and focus on my breath. I am looking forward to teaching and enthusing others, particularly those who feel that yoga is beyond them. The beauty of yoga is that it is totally flexible (forgive the pun!) and can be tailormade for anyone no matter what their physical form. All that you need is the willingness to be led into a journey of physical and personal discovery and with time, you will reap the rewards. Outwardly you will notice improved body awareness and alignment, strength but flexibility, and subtle differences in the flow and quality of the breath. Inwardly, there will be a sense of calmness and focus, an inner peace to yourself and those around you.
