I have been fortunate to practice with some of the most amazing teachers not only in England, but in my previous home in Texas. After leaving my dance career I became out of shape, depressed, and uncertain how to get out from underneath the dark cloud that hung over me. Then I found yoga at my local gym. I found it difficult to embrace the idea of acceptance without judgement after being in such a cut-throat and competitive environment. In such a short time I saw my body change with every practice. I felt taller, stronger, and more relaxed and just happy. I became a serious Yoga practitioner in 2004 when I desired a return to my roots in movement. I find yoga gives me the perfect channel to merge my interests in music, athletics, sustainable living, physiology and PEOPLE! I've had the opportunity to share my yoga practice with people from all walks of life from elite athletes training for marathons to children and the elderly with disabilities. My classes reflect my daily Ashtanga practice, my background in dance, and my training in Anatomy and Physiology with an emphasis on increasing overall fitness and maximising injury prevention. I enjoy providing fun and energetic yoga sequences which provide an excellent complement to the meditation and relaxation. I strongly believe Yoga doesn't have to be serious and reverent all the time for everyone, although there is a time and place for various aspects of yoga. Currently I am working towards joining "Project Air" in Rwanda to take yoga to those who need it most, so that I can return with an understanding of how Yoga can reach victims of violence and trauma. Until then I hope to pass on the amazing physical and emotional benefits of a regular practice and look forward to another great year of yoga!
