Respond to and support yoga teachers and trainers in the UK who believe in quality teaching, and to give the public unbiased information on what is available.

Encourage the sharing of experience and knowledge between members.  By coming together and sharing that knowledge and experience, and by supporting each other, we can grow and develop as students and teachers more effectively.

A member –driven organisation that provides a level playing field by providing resources, networking, transparency and equal opportunities to anyone who has a passion for, and believes in, the spirit of yoga.

What Yoga Alliance UK is not:

We are not in any way a governing body, but we have set some basic standards which we hope will be recognised and useful to all yoga teachers, trainers and students.

We do not train teachers, but maintain a Register of Training Providers.

Yoga Alliance UK believes that experience and professionalism should be acknowledged and credited. On this basis we can identify a career path from trainee through to teacher trainer. For details of this structure please see 'career path'

Yoga Alliance UK also recognises that there are many highly experienced teachers who started teaching long before the current qualifications existed. Therefore it is possible for experienced teachers to join Yoga Alliance UK on the strength of their experience.

As a registered teacher (RYT) you can advertise your classes and events on the Yoga Alliance UK website and also obtain discount insurance.

If you run your own yoga school you can have it accredited as a Registered Yoga School (RYS). You can advertise and promote your events on the Yoga Alliance UK website, and can also host Continuing Professional Development modules on behalf of Yoga Alliance UK. In this way you become involved in helping to shape the future of yoga in the UK.

As an Approved Training Provider you demonstrate that your training course has achieved exceptional standards by complying with the stringent conditions of acceptance.
